Throwback Thursday: My First Ever Food Photoshoot
Today I'm sharing a throwback to a few shots from my first ever professional photoshoot. I discovered my love for photographing and writing about food out of creative deprivation while on active duty in the U.S. Army. I desperately desired an outlet for my creativity and found myself more and more drawn to exploring cultures through their cuisines and wanting to share my experiences. My first blog (called Good/Bad/Ugly Eats) was mostly harsh restaurant reviews with cringeworthy imagery (eek). But as my interest grew, so did my commitment to taking my “hobby” seriously and learning the skills I needed to take it to the next level.
It’s incredible to look back on those memories now, from taking the leap from active duty to pursue my passion project full time, to struggling to find any footing, to now operating a growing restaurant photography and social media business as my full time career. Every day is a new learning lesson and it’s been a dream to continue to grow in this industry. Long story short, it’s never too late to make a drastic career change to pursue something you love, think about it! 💕
